Justice in Aging is pleased to announce five new members to our Board of Directors. The new board members bring a diversity of professional and personal experience to the Justice in Aging board including in the areas of health care, academia, housing, government, philanthropy, and direct legal services. Diego Cartagena, President and CEO of Bet Tzedek Legal Services, has spent his entire legal career addressing issues of access to justice. Serving in a variety of capacities at Bet Tzedek over the past decade, Cartagena has launched numerous innovative and effective programs at the agency. Verna Eggleston leads the Women’s Economic Development initiatives at Bloomberg Philanthropies. Eggleston has worked for more than four decades in human and social development in both government and the private sector. She was the longest serving Commissioner of New York City’s Human Resources Administration and has received numerous awards for her work. Dr. Sam Ho served as Chief Medical Officer for UnitedHealthCare. He’s a nationally recognized expert in health policy, program innovation, and has served on several National Academy of Medicine committees focused on improving America’s health care system. Nina A. Kohn is the David M. Levy Professor of Law at Syracuse University College of Law, and the Solomon Center Distinguished Scholar in Elder Law with the Solomon Center for Health Law and Policy at Yale Law School. Kohn’s research focuses on how the law shapes and responds to the experience of growing older and the needs of older adults. Joyce Walker serves as the Vice President of Community Development for PK Management, LLC- a diversified real estate development and property management company. Joyce has a long history of developing, implementing and managing housing solutions for low-income older adults. “We are proud to welcome these incredibly accomplished leaders to Justice in Aging’s Board of Directors.
